I mean last until .97x/2.1.0x/whatever...

by Cutmanmike » Wed Aug 03, 2005 10:16 am

last version? OMG SV_KEEPKEYS/WEAPONS PLS

by Grubber » Wed Aug 03, 2005 2:21 am

Added. Named it FRIGHTENED. Expect it in the last .96x release.

An actor property may be best. That way you can even set a scale to how much the monster is afraid/agressive. So like, the higher it is, the less the monster will attack as its moving away, and lower would mean it's more aggressive attacking as it gets in close.

Make it a codepointer, not a flag. That way, you could have wounded monsters run away, too, and come back later when they're not scared.

Code: Select all

A_SetMonsterFear
A_UnSetMonsterFear

that's very subjective to skill.

(I think we should really stop de-railing this thread now, seeing as it's a very good idea...)

Heh, you were right, 6 cybers in map16. After that you push the switches behind the cybers. You get an invul first though, and you should be able to deal with at least 5 of them in 30 seconds.

by Phobus » Tue Aug 02, 2005 12:57 pm

It's one of the tech base levels. I may have over exaggerated a little, but there was definitely 4(or more) cyber demons in that room, just after you kill the archvile and the imps (or whatever else was in there) and pick up some blue armour (I think) the walls open up and you have to fight a load of cyber demons, and yhave to get round them to get an invulnerability. (or it may be that you pick up the invulnerability first, then walls open and you have to get round them for BFG ammo). There's a couple of crates in the room, I remember that.

by Belial » Tue Aug 02, 2005 12:50 pm

Where? I remember max 3 (or 4) at the same place same time. And in Demonic Hordes you have an invul to use.

by Phobus » Tue Aug 02, 2005 12:41 pm

Yeah but that method involves good timing (needs to be developed) and remembering to stand away from walls.

Now fighting a group of cyber demons is a different matter. (Without adequete cover I find two to be nigh on impossible, so imagine how many tries it took me to beat that bit in AV where there's something like 6 of them).

Or left-right-left-BLAM x2

by Phobus » Tue Aug 02, 2005 8:35 am

That would be some interesting scripting there...

also most of us Doomguys just go and kick a CyberDemon's arse nowadays (good old circle strafing)

by ant1991331 » Tue Aug 02, 2005 12:03 am

I like that too.......

Monster: Haha, I have a Chaingun!
DoomGuy: Ummm, yeah....... *pulls out a BFG9000*
Monster: Ooohhhh, shit! *runs off like Doomguy when meeting a CyberDemon*

Shoud probably make it togglable via ACS too, so you can make powerups that makes monsters afraid of you for a limited time (or make weapons that cause monsters to run away).

I like this, as if a monster was scared of you.
