ZDBSP can build vanilla-compatible nodes. HTML file bundled with it has the corresponding topic.
In SLADE, all you need to do is to specify path to ZDBSP executable and select 'Write zero REJECT' option.

You made the post while you weren't logged in. I'll fix it for you.

okay, but is there a node builder for mac that is compatible with vanilla?
(for some reason, this post labeled the owner as Reuben Basslestock, even though I made the post)

You are trying to build nodes with Windows executable. You need to use macOS native node builder.
I uploaded the latest build of ZDBSP here. It requires 10.7 and 64-bit CPU.

P.S. Brief spec of your Mac is under Apple -> About This Mac menu.

Nodebuilder output:

I am on an old mac OS X desktop, and i don't know the specs of it.

I think this means that SLADE is not detecting the WAD and launching it in chocolate doom gives me a NumLumps error. Does this have anything to do with my nodebuilder or access rights?
