So? I know what a development version is...

I say nightly builds for all!

by Graf Zahl » Wed Feb 22, 2006 3:15 pm

Well, I wouldn't bother with such versions. The current code is not stable.

Or just as usual, i.e. no repo for branches. To pick an example in the linux kernel world, Andrew Morton does not use a repo for his -mm tree either, just some .diff manager.

Now the top of the iceberg would be to have nightly automated builds from the svn repo... (I would not need it, but it's the last attainable situation I can imagine)

Considering that there isn't even supposed to be a ZDoom SourceForge project because it isn't "free enough," I think using SourceForge now would be a bad idea.
Well, it passed the registration back then. Though I think I made a slight mistake back then, saying that the Doom code was GPL (is it?). [Oh and if you're asking, you did allow me giving a try at re-registering the project (after your reg was rejected) someday in June/July 2003. Though you never used it then.]

If 2.0.99 comes out then gzdoom will be switched to 2.0.99 code?

by Graf Zahl » Sun Feb 19, 2006 3:56 pm

No. The current version still contains critical bugs and a working ZDoom.wad can't be created. At least one round of bugfixes is still required to make this usable.

would it be possible for someone to build a windows version of the new SVN code? not all of us are coders and it would be nice to play with the new stuff and help find bugs :)

How do I check out the ZDoom source from the SVN
go to http://subversion.tigris.org/project_packages.html (scroll down to Windows downloads)

option A: using the command-line tools: (assuming they're in the PATH)

cd /path/to/where/you/want/sources
svn checkout http://mancubus.net/svn/hosted/zdoom

option B: using TortoiseSVN

navigate an Explorer window to the folder of your choice
find "checkout" in context menus
enter repository URL: http://mancubus.net/svn/hosted/zdoom
(i'm not sure about exact details - i rarely use this)

How do I check out the ZDoom source from the SVN (other than getting it one file at a time via the web interface)? I have MSVC 2005 Express, and I think it'll compile with that. (ZDoom.sln looks to be a MSVC8 project file.)

by Bio Hazard » Sat Feb 18, 2006 9:26 pm

It's not like you play ZDoom anyway.
