Something that comes to mind at the mention of this is Max Payne's nightmare sequences. In some areas, the FOV zooms out and produces a fisheye-lens effect. I'd like to see this effect used somewhere, for those 'spooky' parts.

Like Blade Nightflame said. Some players bind different FOVs to keystrokes to "zoom" in and out.

For example, my zdoom.ini includes:
mouse3=fov 40
mwheelup=fov 90
mwheeldown=fov 18

Some people go even further, making aliases that change their mouse sensitivity and everything. Search the forum, I'm sure it's somewhere.

Field of View.

Basicly the distance the player sees at, the larger it is, the more the camera 'stretches' the image and the world around you, and the more it gives a 'Fish-eye' effect

The lower it is, however, the closer the world will 'tighten' on you, just like Sniper Rifles.

Still no change on this? Many people have been waiting for ages.

Hm, good point. I'm not thinking out of the box here...

What most poeple don't realize is that this feature is quite useless unless you combine it with some other scaling method of rotation.
Not really. Could be quite useful for cutscene effects.

IMHO: Yes, but I want to make MONSTERS that alter a player's FOV, and a whole lot of people want to make a sniper scope for their favorite weapon. I could just use A_Print to tell the player that he needs to hit "F" now...

by justin024 » Thu Nov 10, 2005 4:11 am

You could always use a keybinding to alter FOV.

Personally, I did not like the way those vehicles were done for a number of reasons, the biggest one was the camera and other elements.
Then again, I'd just like to see a duplicate of a halo-styled control set to a vehicle for doom. would be really cool if it all worked.
