Use a second invisible thing and ACS. When the thing is destroyed, destory the turret. The invisible thing won't be targeted by the monsters.

For .96 you can't do anything at all.
For .96x I added an additional check that prevents monsters from targetting non-shootable things (because monsters in Heretic attacked the volcanoes.) If that gets added to the official version you can just specify '-SHOOTABLE'.

Well I have a gun turret which I want to attack any non friendly monsters but I don't want the non friendlies to attack back at them. That's right, I want them either sit there and take the damage or run after another target (Don't worry I have reasons).

That's intended behavior. Friendliness overrides +NOTARGET.

A non-friendly monster is getting hit by a friendly monsters with the +NOTARGET flag applied to it, yet the non-friendly tries to attack it.
