Hi there all. I have an old computer that I'm using until my main PC is fixed. I am using a different/new instance of Windows 10 than what was on the old PC(which was also Windows 10), but other than that, the hardware/setup hasn't changed. The saves were originally created on this same PC, but on the previous install of Windows 10.
I copied the files I had from a backup onto the old computer, including everything GZDoom and brutal doom needs to run. It is currently GZDoom version 4.3.3. Brutal doom runs fine, but when trying to load a save, nothing happens. Literally nothing, it just silently fails.
I was able to load saves from the Stardate wad using this same backup, so I don't think it's an issue of corrupt save files. The saves are in the main directory that houses brutal doom and GZDoom. Seeing as not much has changed, other than the files being moved around, I don't understand what is causing brutal doom not to load those saves. It can create new saves for brutal doom, and load those just fine, but it refuses to use my already existing ones. The saves are all in .zds files.
Could it be something to do with the configuration settings/.ini file? The original .ini from the backup is 31 KB, compared to the new .ini file that was created, which is 17 KB. I don't see anything in there that stands out, but idk.
Also, unrelated, but I just downloaded the newest GZDoom version, and made a save so I could find/verify the save directory, and the saves are neither in the running directory, or in >Documents>My Games, so where is the new save directory?
I thought about just figuring out how to just use cheats to skip to the level I was on, but I would like to avoid a pistol start if possible.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
EDIT: The console says "This savegame needs these files: EdayTest001.pk3:edaymaps.wad" I don't understand what the appended "edaymaps.wad" is, as I have never seen that name anywhere, but I do have EdayTest001.pk3 in the running directory
