GZDoom already disables the menu blur for portrait-less NPCs automatically. Mod authors who want to control the menu blur effect are free to do so with their custom ConversationMenu replacements.

I think it should be on for menus, and picture dialogues - but for dialogues with no pics it should be off.

Preachin' to the choir probably, but this will definitely need to be off-by-default, since there are plenty of no-pic dialogues within the Strife IWAD itself that are affected by this.

THen it needs to be a dialogue option.

Option, please. There are some situations where this effect would be deliberately desired.

I already complained about the minimum blur setting when it was introduced - it is far, far too strong. And of course in this particular case it needs to be off.

Option for no menu blur during dialogues?

I like the menu blur feature, however, I have found one instance where I think it is inappropriate: conversation dialogues without character pictures.

In most cases in Strife, conversations have an image showing the character that you are speaking to. The image is shown unblurred but the background world (visible beyond the edges of the character picture) is blurred - this looks great and focuses attention on the picture and the text.

However, if there isn't a character picture, the actor in the conversation just turns to face the camera and the dialogue is overlaid on the world. This is fine but if menu blur is active, the background world is blurred and so you are speaking to a blurred mess.

(and that's on the lowest blur setting)

Would there be any way of having an option not to blur in such a situation (either via the dialogue definition or the general options)?
