Hrm... Now we're assuming the demons are made of some naturally-translucent material... but what if its an inate ability born into certain demons that allows them to camoflauge themselves? Then the gibs should be solid in appearance since they clearly should lose the ability on death... Yes? :)

yes, but if it's going to do that it should create some shadowed gibs in the case of any monster with the shadow tag.

This is because zdoom creates a new gibs thing rather than just switching the states as Doom did.

just noticed that when spectres get crushed in a door in zdoom, the blood doesn't become partially invisible as it does in doom.exe. i suppose this probably applies to any monster with the shadow dehacked bit as well.
