I was having the same key-retention problem but just tried zdoom-r1735 and I did lose my keys after finishing a level so apparently, whatever broke it is fixed. :)
No need to start every level with an IDCLEV and a pistol. :lol:

Definitely works for me. As for the melting, all bets are off with ACS scripting involved. The way this WAD works I don't think that it can melt.

When you change levels in the Ultimate Simplicity (sp_usimp) wad, picked up keys stay with you in Zdoom 2.3.1. They should be gone on the beginning of the next level!

In previous versions of ZDoom (sorry, don't remember what exactly) there was no such bug.

And what is strange - there is no screen melt between changing of levels - and I think the screen melted before (in previous versions). So I think the game thinks that the level is not changed normally, and keeps the keys.
