This has always been a "won't fix", if I recall correctly. But the last time this was reported the compatibility system was nowhere near as extensive as it is now - maybe it might be time to revisit this.
The issue here is that the author ignorantly enforced check switch height when, with the mirror, the switch is completely out of view. In fact, it's inside the floor/ceiling, it's strictly a +use linedef with no switch whatsoever. The trick worked in older GZDoom's due to a bug that was since fixed.
The way to fix this is to simply disable the switch height checks for those maps.
