If you do get around to looking at this, might it be possible to have a MAPINFO version (perhaps even two: one for the player, another for monsters)?

Do you want slope HEIGHT or slope ANGLE?
Angle can be done. Height unfortunately not, PIT_CheckLine cannot deal with that case appropriately.
