Hmm. It'd be nice if ZDoom had some logic to identify the freedoom iwad as such (it wouldn't he hard - just check for the presence of a lump called "FREEDOOM" in the iwad) and to have an entry for it (maybe have it check for a "freedoom.wad" and show it in the list with the other wads).
Doom2F.wad: I myself have really ever come across any special version of the game with a french translation, but if there is one I'm pretty sure it wouldn't need an IWAD with a different name as far as game production is concerned; since it's just the same wad with a few graphics changed it shouldn't really warrant for the name to change as the resources in general would still be the same, just in a different language.
Though, it would make sense if they were going to include a special version with an executable that was capable of language selection before the game loaded, though it would've likely require two separate string tables and two versions of the iwad with the original coinciding with the modified version, and a way of choosing which iwad gets loaded. But that would've required access to the sources for the Doom executable...
...Which, depending on the time frame, was most likely held by id software's programmers, meaning they would've needed permission from id.
