This is working better now
, but not perfect. If I let a demo finish and the next starts playing while the menu is still up, sound will start playing, but if I close it and then re-open it, it stops the sound correctly.
However, there is also an odd "ghosting" effect that can be observed now. When unpausing the game, various sound effects the menu prevented from playing will actually play back once it is unpaused. For instance, keep the menu ON while Caleb is blowing up the first zombie when going outside, then close the menu like 3-5 seconds after the zombie is dead. His death sound will now be heard, despite being already dead for a while at this point.
