Yup, any reasonable looking side-neutral symbol would probably work IMO. An asterisk is certainly in the font. There may well be other suitable graphics in there too (I don't know how to look at the full set of characters in the font).

Perhaps an asterisk, instead.

Perhaps the logic could be generalized to this:

1) If it's a sub option menu, point left
2) Otherwise, point right

Menu arrow in the other direction.

A real minor thing here, but it kind of bugs me, so, if the character is in the font somewhere, could there be some way that the little triangle used in the menus could point in the other direction where appropriate (either that, or some sort of neutral dot/circle or something be used instead)?

What am I talking about?

In most menus, the little flashing arrow points to the most important thing...

At other times, it's debatable whether it's pointing in the correct direction or not.

Some times, to my mind at least, it seems to be pointing in the wrong direction...

Yeah, I know that it's all the same graphic, but either using a different graphic for when the arrow needs to point the other way (right), or a side-neutral symbol of some sort in all cases, would be better IMO.
