You mean a switch on the side of a 3D floor? If so, give the floor line in the model sector a flag of 16 or 32 (16 for upper texture, 32 for lower texture). Then give the line that you want to act as a switch the appropriate line action for your needs and set the upper or lower side def to have the switch texture that you want.
If you want an example, extract the file nj_3d_floorUDMF.wad from here and look at how the floating switch is set up.
