Feature request: Raw OPL2/3 Adlib dump?

Post by leileilol »

I love Zdoom's FM OPL2/3 Synthesizer since it's very authentic.

Could you code in a feature or console command that dumps the current .mus played as some .adl or .raw file for use in playback in adlib players such as Adplug?

That would be really cool! I hope they implement that into a future Zdoom. I would appreciate that as well as you.

I could also just rip the OPL music for you using DOSbox, too.

I tried DOSbox's opl dump, it wasn't accurate. Test subject was Major Stryker: the raw dump sounded more awkward than the directly-extracted IMF file.

I know that the OPL rips don't sound super mega ultra accurate, but they come close.

Still, I guess it would be nice to hear the most original version you could find.

You can always warez it... Anyway, that's a bloody good price for a synth of that nature... most companies charge neyhond the 100s for stuff that's not really as high quality as that.

Plus, that thing would sound great in some funky techno songs :D.

If you miss adLib, get Duke Nukem 2. You can select it in the options, and the noises are so much fun to just listen to :D
