ZDoom 1.17b is now available from the downloads page. The most significant change (from a user's point of view), is that it now starts up faster because it doesn't spend all its time loading the sizes of each sprite. It also includes some bug fixes to version 1.17a, and there are a few internal changes designed to make supporting Heretic and Hexen easier in a future release, but you would need to look at the source code to notice them.
