Make WAD released!
Make WAD released!
I got ahold of a ridiculously in-depth book on C++, I've been playing around in VC++, and I'm going to make another .WAD tool! This will be a command line program which allows files to be drap/dropped on it to make a .WAD. So far, I have it merging raw data and I just need to make it write the header and directory.

I've never had any corruption using XWE. Also XWE makes a backup of the wad automatically every time it is "saved" so it's more reliable IMO.Phobus wrote:@asdf: It's known to corrupt files and stuff, though I've never experienced it myself.
XWE bashing is so timeline.

True, but Csabo is working on fixing that right now, and it seems to be going well. The backups work well, but indeed do take up a lot of space if the wad gets large. As far as I can see, there's only an option to limit the backup to one.Phobus wrote:@asdf: It's known to corrupt files and stuff, though I've never experienced it myself.
I've never had enough problems with XWE to switch to something else. The program has evolved quite a bit in the past while.
Doesn't mean that nobody else should try and make something to do things xwe doesn't, or compete.
I can't rip on XWE since zWad isn't really any better. I wouldn't be surprised if I overlooked some miniscule detail that could somehow result in a corrupted WAD.Cutmanmike wrote:well I don't mind as long as it's better than XWE
ATM this is not going to be a GUI but who knows what I might do with it later on... zWad was originally only gonna have an export lump feature and now it does a bunch of stuff.
