D'Sparil rides Korax, untill Korax gets real hurt and in a pang Korax accidently throws off D'Sparil.
Both still alive according to the sprite sheet, but separated.
When D'Sparil gets off of Korax, Korax can function as he was original, so does D'Sparil (sorcerer2 actor)

I'll be making a decorate soon, where these sprites will work nicely.

As a sprite set, they're nice and look cool. But, knowing these characters and how they link together, I can't help but wonder as to why D'Sparil is mounting on his brother. The last I checked, Korax isn't some kind of pet. It also gives the impression that D'Sparil has the higher rank between the two, which in fact is not.

I reckon that Korax was originally meant to be the mount and the heressiarch the brother anyway. I see this as [fixing] a poor decision by Raven.

I wasn't referring to how they fair in-game in comparasion to each other, though it might still be a factor. I was more talking about how they're depicted by the game's plot.

That's originally. However, the official story tells us something different and there doesn't seem to be any relation between Korax and Heresiarch.

Ever taken a look at Heretic E3's end screen? It suggests a design change post-Heretic that could very well imply that the Heresiarch's art was meant to represent Korax first.

The idea makes me imagine some kind of parodic fanfiction preceding Heretic plot:

Korax: "Hey bro, there's a cool world that way. Take my back, we go there!"
D'sparil: "Okay."

DESTRUCTIONNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eidolon: "Hey guys, wait for me!"

Then, maybe it totally happened that way.

PS: But aren't the name of "Serpent Riders" already a weird thing in itself? I mean, only D'Sparil is riding something actually called a "serpent".

All three of them were riding serpents in the initial concept. Then with Hexen they said "scratch that, too copycat, and that'll give us another monster". As Raymond-Judy of Raven said, the bosses were always the worst part of the game, because it's the part that's rushed in at the last minute.

The idea is that with the Chaos Sphere, they both grew in power so much that they didn't need their serpent anymore anyway. Korax mutated in a way that made equitation difficult for it, and Eidolon is just far too big.
