True, but if that isn't done then the target audience may have to spend five times the effort viewing the tutorials and a lot more time to view it too. Who is the tutorial for - the tutor or the tutee? ;)

Thing is, there's a shitload of stuff I'd probably make videos about JUST because it's a quite weird thing to explain how to do.

After a bit of messing around, I managed to get Dark Forces II : Jedi Knight working on my Win7 64 bit system. It's been a long time since I played it and, frankly, I'm amazed how basic looking the game that I remembered as being incredibly lush is. It's still good fun though.

Enjay wrote:Anyway, what did I last do? Decided that I much prefer written, illustrated tutorials to video tutorials. Why? Because with a video I find it much harder to skip over the bits that I don't need to know so I have to wait until whoever made the tutorial has finished explaining details such as what a menu is or how to save a file.
Plus a bigger pain in the ass to go back and re-check something.

I read much faster than most vid-tuts talk, and I'm certainly not going to sit through a 20-second intro about what the video is for and who made it. The only thing vidtuts really bring is realtime demonstration, though I can get just as much out of still shots if the author isn't too inept at them.

And even with pics, a much smaller download than any text version.

I can't even fathom how much crack Kins smokes when he works in DECORATE. From my latest bug report for Reelism:

There's a joke in that, but words are escaping me right now.
Also, I'm sure you got Kins checking his glasses.

The scary part is that I knew why that was happening immediately.

So one of the cats must have been too scared to go outside when mum's ex was taking his shed this morning while I was asleep...because when I went downstairs to put washing in the machine there was a present in the corner.

Not the worst AI I've seen in a game, but that's still funny :laff:

Agreed. Nearly every one starts with "Hi guys it's [insert name here] and today I'm going to show you how to [insert task here] in [insert program here]." For some reason, such introductions seem to take forever and provided no more information than is usually in the video title and/or youtube page any way.

And what's with people who don't even have the program already running when they start? Even worse, if its a 2nd or 3rd tutorial, not only should the program be running but it should be opened to the point where they can just start showing you the new stuff immediately.

And remember to like and subscribe. See you next time guys and thanks for watching.

And then, suddenly, after a few levels, I started feeling phenomenally ill; proper cold sweats and feeling like I was going to vomit. I've heard of people getting motion sick when playing games before and I think this may be an example. I'm not sure why though. I've played the game right through many times before. The Win7 fix that I'm using sometimes makes the edges of the screen flicker though - perhaps that's it. Or perhaps I was not very well any way and this is just coincidence. I'll have to try again when I get some time to do it.
