There really is no need for either the bronies or the haters, or anyone in between, to get into arguments over this stuff. We are all individuals, we all have our own unique tastes, not everybody is going to like the same things, and we can't reasonably expect that they do. Anywho, I recently noticed every time I watch mlp find myself having to pause and play a game or do something else, then continue, pause, continue and cycle until I finish the episode.

Oddly enough, this is when I usually play doom the most in short periods of time playing a random map with a random mod(since doom is easy to close and open with minimal delay time). Is this weird?

...so the season finale is coming up this saturday! the marriage between Twilight's brother Shining Armor and this other princess (?) called Cadence. Hasbro is apparently hyping this up as shit, with tons of promo material and the like. what do you think of it?

personally i haven't paid much notice of it, and i dunno if it'll live up to all the hype, but apparently Vinyl Scratch is making 'nother appearance with her apparently canon coloured eyes (magenta, according to some flash promo game with her in it), and since i'm such a huge VS fanboiz this of course pleases me very much.

All I know is that this wedding is a two-parter, that Twilight is somehow involved, this is one of the biggest things the MLP crew have done with the show yet, and that Hasbro took out a full-page "wedding invitation" ad in the New York Times. I don't really want to know much else. You know, spoilers and all that. I'm indifferent at this point. I'll certainly watch it. I'll decide whether I like it after I've seen it. I think it's nice that they're doing something like this, though. Weddings, if done right, are really sweet. Should be heart-warming as usual.

Apparently, TS will find some "terrible secret" about the bride. I only hope this secret will not be something along the lines "she is an a**hole like Price Blueblood", because that would be hardly surprising...

The guy who voiced Discord also did work on another episode, some speculate that it has something to do with the wedding, if not then I guess we'll see what's up in season 3. The guy who voiced Discord isn't much of a voice actor and he has a very distinct voice so it wouldn't make much sense to voice some random pony with a voice like his, guess we'll just have to see though.

... was none other than John DeLancie. You may remember him better as Q from Star Trek. I thought that choice was AWESOME! /)^3^(\ DeLancie voice-acted a character in MLP who was pretty much the same type of character he portrayed in Star Trek. It was just so freakin' appropriate. I damned near had a nerd-gasm when I realized it was him.

So yeah that was a pretty decent way to end off the season I guess. I kinda felt left wanting more though, I think if there was an additional episode to this finale arc it could have been much better.

Spoiler: "Stuff from and about it"

The new villain had a very interesting design I think. Overall, of the 3 villains introduced in the show this one felt the most...threatening. Then again all Discord did was mess with everyone, but he didn't actually "hurt" anybody. Nightmare Moon never got a chance to lay a hoof on anyone. Chrysalis (not sure if canon name or fanon name on this one) actually managed to do some damage, even tussled with Celestia and burnt her horn (or something), and ransacked most of Canterlot. Much like with the other villains though, it all felt rushed. The villain is at the peak of victory and has everything under control, lets their guard down, and is instantly defeated. There's all this buildup and the villain takes like 2 episodes to almost win and then the heroes defeat the villain in the span of less than a minute.
Then again it is a kid's show and they can only allot so much time to these things. However, they did take the time to put together a whole action scene where the main characters face off against an army of doppelgangers so...
In the case of this episode though, I suppose they could be trying to make the argument that "love conquers all" as the reason for why the changelings were so quickly repelled.

The songs were a bit more complex than the usual stuff though (each one even had a reprise) so that was pretty nice.

I finally got a chance to see the grand finale wedding episode tonight with a dear friend of mine and her herd of brony friends. I thought the episode was great, but yes, I do have to agree with pretty much everything Grymmoire said within the spoiler tags.

Even with this being a two-parter, MLP is only a half-hour show so they didn't have much room to work with. I thought the shapeshifters were a great villain, but yes, too much build-up and not enough pay-off. Plus, I agree that they were the most threatening villains yet, but of course, this is a series, so it's bound to suffer from Dragonball syndrome. The villains always have to be more powerful than the last one was to pose the seasoned characters a credible threat. But, I never would have expected the show to actually have a "fight scene". I was completely unprepared for that.

Sure, but don't most villains do that? They pause to gloat and strut and admire their own handy work and stroke their egos, and that's when the hero strikes. I will agree, though, that I wanted their defeat to be played out for a little longer. And is everyone really satisfied with the fact that Shining Armor's shield just knocks all the shapeshifters away? I wanted a more permanent solution, because they could easily just come back, and since they're shapeshifters, they could infiltrate easily. They can't keep that shield up forever.

Wow, did I really just analyze a episode of MLP? Heh. I guess that's how you know you have a genuine love for the show.

I like how everyone is completely useless.
The Wonderbolts are useless, the royal guards are useless, Celestia is useless, Luna is useless (or at least too lazy to show her face for more than 5 seconds), even the Doctor is useless (maybe he left his sonic screwdriver in the TARDIS or something??) and that's just characters who were present during the episode. Everyone in Ponyville is useless too with the possible exception of Big Macintosh, since he is less "a stallion" and more "50 stallions condensed into the shape of one".
If it wasn't for the mane 6, nothing would ever get done. EVER.
Seriously, why did Celestia go all like "hurr durr imma poke you with mah horn"? She is THE SUN GODDESS; She can call down NUCLEAR FUSION DEATH RAYS with but a single thought! Even barring that, she's still an obscenely powerful spellcaster! Why would she EVER engage in melee combat!? DAMMIT HASBRO YOU HAD A PERFECT OPPORTUNITY FOR CELESTIA TO BE A TOTAL BADASS AND YOU BLEW IT.
At least it was kind of neat that a villain was juiced up with the power of love for once, although I was kind of hoping Celestia would kick her ass and THEN she'd pull a dirty trick that ruins everything. Unfortunately, Celestia is, of course, useless. (Twilight Sparkle could totally have taken on Queen Slug-For-A-Butt Bitchy McShapeshifter Original the Character(DONOTSTEAL) A SPY! Whatever-the-hell-her-name-is in a straight fight because she is THE LEGENDARY SUPER SAIYAN embodiment of magic itself.)
Also I was kind of hoping that at the scene where they've just beaten up their doppelgangers and made it to the hall with the elements of harmony and they're suddenly surrounded by a million billion skillion changelings, Luna would finally get off her ass and swoop down out of nowhere and save the day. But noooo she only shows up for approximately 8 seconds total across THE ENTIRE SERIES, barring the first episode and the Nightmare Night episode. They're trolling us, I just know it. "HAY GUIZ DID I MISS ANYTHING LOL", indeed.

Also also I was kind of hoping Discord had something to do with it. His statue could've at least made a cameo appearance. :I
ALSO also also, how the hell do the CMC keep getting to Canterlot? Are they stowing away on the train? Maybe in that little upper compartment that Derpy hides in during the intro? Rarity's giant hat? Maybe in Pinkie Pie's hair?

Yeah, I'd have to agree with a lot of Ethril's thoughts as well. But, those are what are called Unavoidable Plot Oversights. Ones in which they have to screw with the plot to make it more engaging, more dramatic, more suspenseful, make sure the "mane" characters are the focus of the action, etc., even when it doesn't make sense within the show's universe to do. The writers will usually choose flair over logical consistency because that's what sells. It happens with damn near every fictional show in existence.

Ha ha. My friend noticed that, too. She said something along the lines of, "There goes Team Rocket!" Some other guy said, "Team Rocket's blasting off again!" I don't follow Pokemon at all, but that meme is pervasive enough that I recognized it.
