Quick question about raise states

I just got really curious all of the sudden... :P
Did the monsters in the first Doom have raise states (or the equivalent, I'm not keen on the whole internal code aspect of Doom)? The reason I'm asking is because the Archvile wasn't in th first game and I don't recall any monsters being raised in Doom, and so I wonder if the guys at Id added raise states anyway for some reason.

The answer is at least partially "yes" in the sense that the later Doom executables (Ultimate Doom's, in paticular) actually contain all the code for Doom 2 actors (i.e. the frame table is the same). Early versions of the game engine likely didn't, for much the same reasons.
