I might have mentioned at some point that I occasionally write articles for Hardcore Gaming 101. My most recent (finally got posted today after about 3 months of work on it) is Wolfenstein, covering the entire series from the Apple II games all the way up to the 2009 sequel, and also including a number of shout-outs to fan-made Wolfenstein media like WolfenDOOM, Castle Totenkopf, and Wolfenstein 2600.

I consider this to be an excellent article.
Although there is a few random e s lying around. (on the wolfenstein 3d bit, there is "etrue" before the mention of Hovertank 3d, then eDeathCam' a bit later. )

Probably the fault of the guy that transcribed it to HTML; I suspect my quotation marks got malformed in the formatting process somehow.

No, that was just a joke demonstration.

You'll have to do much more than that!

Actually there's no image editing involved.

I tried doing splitscreenage on Quake once

getting two clients and two input devices with independent binds is a bigger nightmare than I thought. also consider TWO centerprints, two tints etc

It'd be nice if it worked though, local multiplayer is always socially great

Surely you don't expect Sony or Microsoft to let multiple players leech off the same copy, do you?

Heh, if splitscreen was invented today, it would mean that you only get half of the screen rendered. To get the full view, you'd need to plug another console on your console, running a second copy of the game.

It might still happen, as a ploy to get higher resolutions or something. You know, kind of like those SLI/CrossFire things on PC where you plug two video cards together. "Yeah, to play Rage 2 in super HD, you need four Xbox999s interconnected; each one needs its own copy of the game of course otherwise all the exchange bandwidth is wasted on sending game data rather than compositing screen data."

And it'll work -- I'm sure if it happens, it'll be commercially successful.

Or detailed as techbase, rather :)

Considering that nowadays games can be stored in an account rather than in a CD or console, splitscreen may yet again be feasible AND profitable.
