Especially when one considers the show was kind of intended for an audience like me...

Everyone has their own tastes. I despised the show at first. Then Ryan (Cordell) got me hooked on it. I love the music, the animation.. But then when I see people starting to make a military view on the show in a form of media.. that media loses its cuteness -- it's charm -- the sheer essence on what makes the show what it is:

A show of love, friendship, tolerance and life lessons.

What I don't understand is why the Pony people have to have their little corner of every community. I'm not saying I have an issue with this thread or something, just seems odd. I mean, Doom isn't at all related to MLP. I also noticed it on the Battlefield 3 forums. Threads keep cropping up about ponies. Just seems like there's some place far more appropriate for people to talk about episodes of MLP and who their favourite pony is.

And yes, seeing people mixing MLP with zombies, guns, tanks and other violent stuff makes just as much sense to me. I don't follow the show or anything, but what Hellser has said seems to be what it's about. Mixing it with zombies, or whatever, seems to contrast the whole idea completely. Most the time it isn't even in a clever satirical way either.

I'n not trying to attack anyone just expressing my complete lack of understanding of the matter.

I've seen some MLP themed fighting game being made, and I thought to myself, how does that make any sense at all?

Because you'll find bronies in just about every community?

I mean, it's just this one thread. It's not like anyone's demanding a whole subforum be made or anything.

This I agree with. In a lot of cases there's some clever pun or small common thread with which to smash two franchises together in a flash of creativity, but there are a few cases where there's effectively no commonality to be found. Doom's a good example, as is EvE (which I've seen art of). People need to recognize this. If you can't make a viable connection between two worlds in nerd culture, avoid crossing them. Whatever you're trying to do in all likelihood won't work out.

I'll throw in my two cents, even though I probably shouldn't.

It's not so much the mixing of Doom and MLP that bothers me so much that...well...it's not good. The MLP fandom, and being as curious as I am I have delved into it a bit, is really diverse and has hooked people who are into a lot of different things...to say the least. I suppose that says something about the show's quality rather than the content since it's able to attract people from every possible clique out there, but the point is with so many different interests mixed into one fandom crossovers are extremely common. And most of them are done really well, there's a lot of time and effort put into making a work of art, music, whatever really good. But the quality of the stuff posted here (mixed together with the general post quality itself...oh come on you know you were thinking it too) is just, well, it makes the thread hard to look at. I'm all for sharing new pieces of art and stuff but, well, it's like wading through a thread full of "my first doom map ever" maps.

And on the note of crossing MLP over with things that aren't cute and whatnot, there's a lot of grimdark stuff out there.

Me? Personaly, it's only fine if it's supposed to parody something or to poke fun. I Usually dislike grim dark, but any funny crossovers or jokes? A-OK

is this an example hellser?

That, i think was cancelled. But a fire emblem style game play is a possible go.

Not sure if want.

"Hurricane Fluttershy" was definitely one of the better episodes of the season. Everything flowed well, there were no awkward injections of nerd culture or Gir-grade humor, and it's the first time I've heard an electric guitar in the show's music.

Yeah. As much as I went "nngh" at seeing Celestia with a .50 Cal Beretta, part of me just died a little on the inside. I understand you have your own likes, as do all of us. But we should stand on a neutral ground when sharing pics to like-minded folks to not alienate them and make them DISLIKE the show. Especially fellow ZDooMers who are curious about the show in general and come here.

Also, Hurricane Fluttershy was quite funny, and showed alot of Derpy!

[Edit after a link has been removed by a mod]: here I wrote something in the lines "MLP fans should toughen up and not be insulted by everything that makes fun out of them or out of the show", but... ah, nevermid.

I think you should stop attempting to instigate a flamewar in this thread. You have been warned.

edit: It's unclear now, but the warning was primarily based off the adult nature of the content on the site linked, not the image itself.

I personally find the "ponies with guns" trend to be hilarious in how juxtaposed with the show's proper moral messages it is. Same with any sort of the violent, or even saucy artwork that the fandom produces. It's so wacky and against the show's principles, you've gotta laugh. Just goes to show how far over the line in the sand some of the fans are willing to venture.

When it comes to fictions, though, I stick with comedy (after all, they take longer to digest than simple artwork) - mostly stuff in the vein of the one that I'm currently writing (The Great Switcheroo), but the ridiculous shipping one-offs can be amazing, too, even if I didn't really "get" them at first. :P

Nah, don't worry about it. It will be probably better this way.
