Yes, armor is the green bar. Actually, shields are protection powerups that are toggleable. I had to make them this way, because I cannot think of another way to make the player resistant to damage without replacing their armor.

I made a video just to show you the new Deflector Shield. If you didn't notice in the previous video, I used an Invulnerability powerup with reflective mode, but since that would make Invulnerability powerups useless, I decided to modify it so it actually deflects incoming projectiles. The new "model" is effective 99% of the time and the wielder isn't invulnerable anymore.
I don't know if this is a problem, but this new Deflector makes the user deflects his/her own projectiles (that is only if they can outrun them, which actually Thi Barrett is able to). Doing so, tuns "the world" into the owner (much like the ones from Projectile Traps), so the player who shot it is no longer responsible for the damage, but the map itself is.

Proof:

Played by myself as both Thi Barret (top) and Dimitri Paramo (bottom).

That would be nice, huh? :P
But I actually recorded it by playing on 2 computers at the same time, saved the demos and played them back in one computer. Then I just edited the videos to look like one split-screen session. Neat, ain't it? :)

That's really cool - I almost fell for that "splitscreen" stuff, until I read your video's description. :)
But honestly - splitscreen feature would be cool. I remember that sometime before, Kaiser, while working on D64 EX, mentioned this feature as well. However, recently I contacted him about it, and he told that splitscreen won't be there at all. Yeah, ZDoom&GZDoom aren't able to do things like that as well :(

...still, waiting impatiently for the release. I've seen E1M9's video, and must say that the only thing that came to my mind after seeing it was "That's all? I want more!"

Well, this is kind of an important update because of 2 reasons.

First:
John Romero wrote:Hi Hugo,

Looks like an interesting project recreating the DOOM Bible! Good luck.

Ask me whatever you need.

Tom Hall wrote:Yeah, I know about the project, cool idea.

Happy to answer what I remember -- if you wait a week, I might have access to my DOOM notes. I just moved, so in boxland!

Since Romero and Hall are now aknowledged of the existence of this project, there's the possibility that some unknown details of the Doom Bible can be unveiled. This of course would mean that, the project can get even more accurate to the original design plan.

And second:
A playable beta is really, really close. Stay tuned.

How come these two gurus contacted you? Were they replying to something you asked them, or did they simply get interested?

Heh, I wish they did because of their own interest. But it's actually me who asked them for help in some things that there's too much mystery about. How is Tom already knowing about this is still a mystery, but I could figure out someone at DW Forums may have told him.

Okay people, first mystery is solved:

Well, since you are busy, take your time to respond to this question:
-You wanted more weapons for Doom than what appeared in the finished game. Among them, is the Spray Rifle. The way this weapon is described makes it really confusing:

Spray rifle (brown). Multiple shots in a 600 are. Powerful as shotgun, but spread out more. Shotgun recoil.

The "brown" thing is the color the player's uniform would adopt if he/she had selected this weapon. But, what's the weapon supposed to do? I already implemented it in game by doing this:
-Made it an energy weapon that shoots like a Shotgun (multiple hitscan shots, spread with distance).
-Every shot uses 10 Energy Cells (max amount of these is 400).
-Shots have a max distance range of 600 map units (shooting enemies farther than this will not reach them).
-Each shot of this weapon releases 25 hits, opposed to the Shotgun that releases 7.
-Shooting it directly to a wall causes damage to the player.

All this is because I took my liberties in interpretating what you wrote there, but I still want to know from you what was it really supposed to do.
It should be: Multiple shots in a 60-degree arc. That should make more sense. :)

Sounds like a riotgun. Also, the game Tabula Rasa called something like this the Photonic Shotgun, because it sprayed beams EVERYwhere and used energy cells (or its in-game equivalent).

Checked a video on YouTube about the Photonic Shotgun, but it was really bad and couldn't identify it. By the way, by Riot Gun I think of grenade launchers. The Doom Bible also makes mention of one, but I'm not considering it in. In fact, the Doom Bible makes mention of a full of 15 weapons, which is kinda excessive. Back to the Spray Rifle, since Tom said that it's kind of a wide-range type of Shotgun, it only raises the question: What on earth is it supposed to look like? Any ideas?

Hehe. Believe it or not, I'm using something that looks very similar to that one. In fact, it's the same pickup sprite.
