[Project] Make it Widescreen!

Post by neoworm »

Thread for posting any widescreen extensions for various stock game resources. I will try to keep it tidy and categorized, maybe even compile some mods for autoloading later.

Cool, this will definitely come in handy! I've made some Widescreen friendly HUD stuff, but not for stock game content so maybe its not appropriate to post here.

Btw, are you sure that the Heretic staff is widescreen friendly? It looks like the arms could be cut off in many of the frames, its a lot about offsets too ofcourse.

out of curiosity and the fact that i don't currently own a widescreen monitor (laugh it up ) does doom need any such widescreen friendly stuff?

DOOM? No, I don't think so, at least. It's more the other games that require Widescreen friendly resources.

It could be argued that SHT2E0 needs a tiny bit of arm added to the bottom left corner but I think that's the only Doom graphic that shows a cut off edge in widescreen mode.

Good catch, its wrong file. Should be OK now, the extended version add 38 pixels to the side, thats twice more than is needed if I remember correctly.

Also on general note. I think any game resources that were made could be posted. For example I am tempted to make widescreen version of Necrodome HUD because of Xasers mod looks weird on my monitor right now.

I did the Fighter's fists. Had to get creative for the last frame since I think his entire arm is already drawn, so I added a bit of his shoulder armor. It may not look like much but looks just fine in-game.

WAD included. Also, I haven't cropped off the off-screen bits but I'm not sure how to judge that so I'm just leaving it there. Probably better off that way due to sprite viewbobbing (even the original fists could get cut off in 4:3 resolutions because of this!)

Y'know, looking at these, it makes one wonder what happened to all the sleeves. I mean, do tough dude just not wear them or something?

Sleeves are hardly as good a set of armor as skin.

If you don't mind, can you attach an image to my HUD link as well so it's more obvious? http://i.imgur.com/REpFv.png
