Those where you can actually see something, that is. One of our most prolific mapper is very enthusiastic about thick colored fogs that make it look like you're drowning in a bowl of mashed pea soup.

One of my first thoughts on several of thoe shots was "this would look much better with standard lighting". :?

Depending on your personal taste, I guess

For instance this one would definitely benefit from a fog that's not that saturated or strong:

Where in other cases like this one, the fog adds a lot to the heat and atmosphere of the map:

This looks like a Doom 3 outdoors, with dust everywhere.

Yeah, there's a select few instances where the fog does look nice, but in many instances I feel it's there just to be there. :/

(still gaining motivation to rejoin the mapping team... we'll see)

Fog just ruins all the depth and colors in Doom maps when not used properly, especially when it's there just for being there (as with all details). The maps in this mod looks pretty dark already, adding fog would just make it even harder to see.

Fog is great, there isn't enough maps that use it.

So to summarize, we have a VERY talented artist and a skilled mapper in his own right giving a more detailed analysis, and that guy. :P

There isn't enough maps that use it right. Is more like it.
The Gzdoom fog is pretty limited and dosn't look right in most cases.

The coloured fog looks bad, I think it's because it isn't done subtly. Sorry. :(

Also, the contrast between the thick fog and the not-so-foggy skies don't match...

EDIT: This is how you do thick fog and skies http://i51.tinypic.com/4q4myu.jpg
