Aliens TC: SE Standalone [COMPLETED]

Projects that have specifically been abandoned or considered "dead" get moved here, so people will quit bumping them. If your project has wound up here and it should not be, contact a moderator to have it moved back to the land of the living.

Aliens TC: SE Standalone [COMPLETED]

Post by The Zombie Killer »

I played the Aliens TC: SE mod that I found here and thought it was probably the best TC I have ever played.
So, like always, I decided to show my respect and make it standalone. So here it is!

This is the final version of Aliens TC: Standalone.
It requires no other files except for the music if you want it.
From the "New Game" menu you can access the following:

Campaign
Alien Host Ship
Alien Host Ship Remix

You will also notice that there is a "colonialmarines" folder. If you open "Install Colonial Marines.bat" in that folder. It will install the Aliens TC: Colonial Marines mod by Deimos Anomaly. You cannot access the other three episodes when colonialmarines is activated because it causes a whole range of bugs for them.
All credit for Aliens TC: SE and Aliens TC: Colonial Marines goes to their original creators.

old version:
Main Download : http://aliens-doom-tc-standalone.google ... dalone.zip
Update Packet #1 : http://aliens-doom-tc-standalone.google ... gzdoom.pk3

Update Packet 1:
Adds episode selection to new game menu (Campaign and bonus) and also has an updated mapinfo.txt file.

That.

Is this a new trend or something, for people to re-release projects which isn't theirs? Let alone, they probably have not gotten permission to do so?

You...realize this TC remake likely isn't finished, yet?
You'll have to constantly update the standalone...

Code: Select all

You...realize this TC remake likely isn't finished, yet?
You'll have to constantly update the standalone...
Which is exactly what I'm going to do!

if you want to update it yourself you just put the latest version of the TC in the files folder and it will update to the latest version.

Just how many of these do we need? Isn't one Aliens TC upgrade enough?

Nope, I still need to reveal my remake: KDIATC (Knee-Deep In Aliens TC).

lol, thanks for the complement on the TC but yeah, its far from finished. I dont know what to say about this as there really shouldnt be 2 seperate competing TCs that are essentially the same thing...

Dude, it's obvious that he's just taking your existing work, bypassing the initial efforts... hopefully he's not taking any credit too... :/

I honestly don't understand the trend of making standalone versions of mods. If a user can't be bothered to own a copy of Doom, or even go get a Freedoom IWAD, then why make concessions to them? If they can't follow simple instructions to set up ZDoom, why bother going out of your way to make a separately-maintained fork of the project just to cater to the people that can't read a readme file or two?

This is the same guy that "backported" the helper dogs from GZDoom, nevermind them being in ZDoom first. Expecting sound logic here may be too much.

So does this require Zdoom? If not it should come in handy for those playing Doom on a Nintendo DS and the like...

Systems with limited resources.

Uhh yeah it does. Unless you go back and grab Justin Fisher's original TC...
