Ladders

How do I make ladders? Is there anyway to do it without invisible sectors?

Use the search Luke... or just click here for a relevant topic. :)

Either use a very very steep staircase or a water zone thing.

don't forget the transfer heights thing.

ungayst has the nicest example of a ladder i've seen so far, dunno exactly how it's done tho, i think it's made with very little steps and wind blowing at the lightest level. take a look at it if you want, the map is pretty cool also.

Couldn't you drown on the ladder if it was water? ^^

LilWhiteMouse's ladder example (mentioned in the other thread that leha linked to) was very effective. Anyone have a link? I dunno if the file is still up anywhere.

You could always try Cyb's Helm's Deep.

This uses ThrustThingZ to get the player moving up the ladder.

It's also great fun, if something of a resourse hog. :)

You don't actually need Transfer_Heights, the water zone on it's own is enough. (Transfer_Heights is for the surface of the water only, the actual swimmable water is provided by the thing)

You could, but only if you stuck around long enough. (and you don't want to do that in deathmatch maps, which are the only place I've seen them used)

Yeah, there's the thrust-z command, which is what I've seen used most often, there's the very steep steps, possibly deep water... But I think the thrust-z thing is the best.

And that Helm's Deep thing... Holy crap... That's friggin insane!

Edit: Oh, and it looks like the LWM Hellspawn thingy is no longer up... Sucks, cause I wanted to take a look...

I didn't actually mean the full Hellspawn map. LWM put together a little example map. here you go. :)

No offence or anything but I dislike that method. There's always gotta be a ceiling at the top. The flybob gives it away too.

Here's my version if anyone cares
