[GZD r1077] HexenDK autoload

Postby NightFright » Mon Nov 08, 2010 3:32 pm

When using Hexen with its addon Deathkings, I tried putting the path to a zipfile containing "TITLE.png" highres replacement (in hires subdir) into the zdoom.ini file under the section [HexenDK.Autoload]. It didn't load. When putting it as a separate file in ZDL (as external file), it worked just fine. I am sure I made no mistake with file naming or entered path, works just fine for other files in other games, anyway. Tested with latest available GZDoom snapshot, r1077.

Do individual files (I.E. not wads or PK3s) in AutoLoad work for anything else?

Hm, which files is the port able to load via ini besides .wad, .zip or .pk3 extension?

It's actually not picky about the extension. (It'll load .derp files just fine, for instance. :P )

A question though: Are you using an absolute path in the INI, or $PROGDIR\? The latter does not work for me in AutoLoad sections.

My game dir is E:\GZDoom. Highres packs lie in highres\gui\*.zip or highres\textures\*.zip.

In the ini, I have defined it like this:
Path=highres\gui\hexendk.zip

It works just fine for really anything, just not Hexen addon, or so it seems.

I just tried this, and it works fine for me. :?

PK3 contents:
Code: Select allExpand view
HiRes\Graphics\Title.png

INI:
Code: Select allExpand view
[HexenDK.Autoload]
Path=\Projects\Hexen\HiResTitle.pkz

This is the exact situation:

File location on hard drive:
E:\GZDoom\highres\gui\addons\hexendk_add.zip

Entry in zdoom.ini file:
[HexenDK.Autoload]
Path=highres/gui/addons/hexendk_add.zip

Structure of hexendk_add.zip:
hires\gui\menu\TITLE.png

I have learned that any folder below "hires" doesn't seem to matter at all, you can put the graphics into any folder, game would find them. Works like this for Doom, Heretic, whatever. Repacking the file to make it look like hires\graphics\TITLE.png didn't help. The irritating thing is, as I stated, that the file works when loading it via ZDL, but not from within the ini file. So it apparently can't be a mistake by placing the file into the wrong folder inside the zip.

Did you try \s instead of /s?

That's not relevant under Windows. It can handle both.

OK.

I also just realized that I started the Path with a slash, and NightFright didn't.

I have tried that too, didn't make any difference.

*EDIT*
It might actually be related to ZDL. According to ZDL, I am only launching hexen.wad with hexdd.wad as manually added PWAD. Maybe GZDoom cannot recognize the configuration because of that.

Starting 'zdoom -iwad hexen.wad -file hexdd.wad' obviously will use the Hexen config because in this case Hexdd is not considered the current IWAD.
