Deus Vult II: You want a masterpiece? This is it. Super-maps like none other, and he even threw in the smack-down for Belial by allowing him (or anyone who wanted to) to run through DV 1 again at the end. My only nag was that when the last level with gameplay, Hell's Vendetta, was over... I think he could have personally thrown in one more extra hell-themed map. That's just my opinion though.

And if you really want to up the extremeness of it, throw on a weapons replacement wad or any sorts. Whether it be WildWeasel's, DBThanatos', Xasers, it doesn't matter. It's still pure genocidal fun. Many of the new maps will be much harder/easier, depending on skill level, than the original Dues Vult. Mind you, if your game lags, try disabling GL lights in GZdoom if you use it, and fog. (Found out the hard way with AEoD...)

Like DV1, you must be able to withstand lots of killing and managing monsters more carefully. The Unholy Cathedral is a righteous clusterfuck if you get far enough.

Download it from Doomworld.

I played whodunit, for Skulltag. It's fun with the right amount of people but a pain with 32 players jam-packed in a small house. Good thing the house is getting bigger.

The current psychic released beta is great coop. particularly in sythe 2.'
And what I've seen of the hell worm is looking good.

Okay, to go through a list:

All the cacowards winners (the 9 single player ones, I don't play multiplayer) - Those were all enjoyable wads to me, for different reasons but all I'd recommend. Hell Ground, Harmony, Mapgame, LOS, and PL2 (counts as 2009) were probably my favorite half but they're all well worth giving a look. Plus the honorable mentions may or may not fit your tastes. I personally enjoyed Cheogsh 2 despite the shortcomings but didn't like Circus II so much.

And now some other stuff I'd recommend: Titan 2, Ultimate NMD, Styx, Claustrophobia 1024, Mini-level Megawad, Heroes' Tales, Great Bicycle Mystery 2, Imperfection has its Charms, Demontia, Da Will (about half the maps), Base Ganymede E1, Scythe X, Baker's Dozen, Mr. Chris's E2MX maps, (you MUST see Map13, FOUR HOURS? I don't believe it!), maybe Doom 2 Reloaded (I'm waiting to see if the new version is better)

IIRC that covers most of the bigger wads (episode or longer) of '09 that I had a good time with.

Yeah. Totally. Now, I have just try combining SUNDER, THE ULTIMATE MASTERPIECE OF EPICNESS with AEoD5 (1st release) and it fuckin' get serious. Level 1 is a smeghead; the sandwich in a lunchbox guy combined with a Diabloist. Shit. But later levels... some kill each others (good good thing) but the challenge stays on. Yes, you will need a nice psu x graphic x memory chips... a gaming keyboard and a multiple task buttons mouse are a MUST. Nothing beats Doom, its addons and the Epicness of it all.
