Re: [Contest] The Beast 2009 - Compete Now! Deadline 20th April
technoless spiders would be all psychic just like octobrain in dukenukem..infact i made a arachnotron that attacks like the d64 one plus has a telekinesis attack. when i first played doom2 i expected the spider demons to have psychic attacks, since i thought it would fit them better than a plasmagun..i always liked the doom64 version of the arachnotron more than the doom2 version, saddly doom64 didnt have the spidermastermind, however having the cyberdemon. that pissed me off soo much

Here's another entry. The info and credits are included in the zipfile.

EDIT: If anybody wants, I can submit the Aracnorb (as this thing is called) to the Beast contest but I'm really not happy with the sprite job. I made it have an interesting array of attacks, though, and it has a couple of new sounds (edited beyond recognition by me) so if anyone's interested, I'll go ahead.
I believe Tormentor already has it, sans the credits lump.

Maybe Boomer's attack from L4D? That would come well for a weaponless mancubus.

Well, I still didn't want it to be cooler then the cyberdemon, though.Ghastly_dragon wrote:I like the idea of a non-cybernetic Cyberdemon and Mancubus, but... what would they do, without those cannons?
That non-cyber Cyberdemon is a damn good edit, by the way, but the name was a little cheesey, and it could use a new attack animation and some new attacks, since it's coding is pretty boring at the moment.

You're entering a contest. Screw the original.Xim wrote:Well, I still didn't want it to be cooler then the cyberdemon, though.

Okay, for your enjoyment, the Aracnorb.
I'm very lazy.
Special bonus: the Nightmare beast! Screenshot of it in action here.
Attack frames don't have angles yet.

Hmmf, I had a really awesome idea for a boss monster to beat the Fire Drake, but since my computer has been broken for a week I can't be arsed anymore

Uhhh...I have a question.
There's a rule saying we can't use any ACS additions.
Does that mean you can't use ACS functions in DECORATE? (ThrustThingZ, etc.)
If so, may I ask why not? I understand when the ACS is in a different script though, but not if it's all in DECORATE.

I think action specials are fine. The main problem with ACS in a monster resource would be LoadACS scripts that could interfere with scripts already in a map or mod.MG_Man wrote:Does that mean you can't use ACS functions in DECORATE? (ThrustThingZ, etc.)

That dream creeper is some scary shit on dark maps. Needs a better sprite than a recolored Lost Soul, thou'. It just doesn't do the monster any justice.

Good point. XDGhastly_dragon wrote:You're entering a contest. Screw the original.Xim wrote:Well, I still didn't want it to be cooler then the cyberdemon, though.
Thought I'd just go with a more straight forward name though. I mean, it doesn't make sense why they're called "decyber" though but I guess it's a little less cheesy than superdemon. But hey, the mappers can name it whatever they want.
