Good Zdoom wads

Post by Doorhenge »

Hey guys I been reading through some of your posts and it looks like a lot of you have made some great sounding wads. Every time I look for a wad it turns out to be awful or not up to it's potential. Are there any wads that have been out for a while that I may have missed? Any that stick out as a great wad that have been out for a while? If you could just tell me the name maybe I could just google it, but a link would be nicer.

Have you seen the section in the wiki on wads released for Zdoom? Most of the zdoom wads I've ever seen have been in there, and it's definitely worth a look in.

That should keep you busy for a while. Look for most of those wads listed above on /idgames.

DoomWorld built it. Not saying ZDoomers weren't involved, though.

That's what I thought. The text file doesn't specify who hosted it, so I believe various authors would be the safest option. I'm just nit picking, but I think its good to practise correct crediting.

Shockingly missing from the above lists are these from Enjay:

Marine Assault
Runaway Train
Doom the Dark Project
(recently re-made for GZdoom as Thief - The trail of the Arch-Heretic
Operation Overlord (uses customised Zdoom, and recently remade as Operation Overlord rev. B for GZdoom

and these from ReX:

The Darkest Hour
and it's add-on prequel
Dawn: A prelude
Paranoia
Temple of the Ancients

Claustrophobia - Virgil, the Doom Poet

While being insanely hard. It's also insanely cool, well, to me. :P (Though I'm not sure 4 maps will be enough..)

My god...level 3 lagged so much on my computer. It was so hard to play when infinite or numerous amounts of flesh/larvae started popping out instantly. I had to skip that level because of it.
