[r3771] Stretch Fullscreen HUD uses wrong proportions

Postby Machu » Fri Jul 20, 2012 3:15 am

If this behavior is intentional, I'd like a workaround. My SBARINFO currently uses 320X240 as its resolution. It makes my status bar look fine, even with Stretch Status Bar turned on. The Fullscreen HUD generally looks okay, but when I turn on the newer Stretch Fullscreen HUD option, everything looks squished! Even though I'm using fullscreen offsets, it behaves as if it needs to fit a 320X240 HUD into a 320X200 space. Even if the resolution is set to 320X240! It's not like I can define the Fullscreen HUD with a different resolution than the normal status bar, either.

Here are some screenshot samples:

1366X768 resolution, scaling off. Double sized. Note the blue icon is square and orange icon is circle. It's slightly hard to notice on such high resolutions, so a player my want to scale it.

1366X768 resolution, scaling on. Actual size. Now it's squashed.

320X240 resolution, scaling on. Double sized. Still squashed. Without scaling, it's looks normal like the 1st image, and taking up the intended part of the screen corner.

I'm not sure but this might have something to do with the fact that the default resolution for Doom has always been 320x200. Either way something weird is certainly going on, and a little clarity on the situation would sure be nice.

EDIT: You will need to give them an example WAD so they can debug it more quickly, however.

Yeah, it must be something to do with the 1.2 height scaling thing.

In the 1st pic the circle is 62x62 pixels

In the 2nd it is 93x78. 78x1.2 = 93.6

In the 3rd it is 62x52. 52x1.2=62.2

Alright, here's an example. Play around with HUD options and stuff. I even changed the normal status bar properly so it uses 320X240 coordinates. Yes, the Doom HUD was designed for 320X200 with tall pixels, but mine isn't.
