[ ZDBSP] UDMF maps keep doing this to me...

Post by Ceeb »

This is the strangest thing, and it only happens on my UDMF maps. (And only for me, anyone I send the map(s) to don't have the same problems.)

Weird corrupt parts appear on my maps. The geometry still behaves properly, but looks weird. (See screenshot below)

I've wondered if this has to do with the fact that I have GZDoom build the nodes on loading the map, but I can't figure out how to force DB2 to build nodes.

I didn't put this in editing because, well, it's not really a problem that belongs there. There are no flaws in my maps (that would cause shit like this) so I'm really just stumped.

Its actually the other way round. It seems that building nodes from within DB2 does that, but externally building them, or building them withing GZDoom, fixes this.

Update your ACC (1.13 now?) and run it on your maps, Ceeb. You should also replace this version of ACC with the one in DB2; I bet the one in GZD is outdated is why it's doing that.

I don't think you guys understand me... I have the latest ZDBSP, I just don't know how to make DB2 build the nodes. There are no options for it that I can find.

Those errors like the one I posted occur without nodes, when GZD builds them.

Right, and what I was saying, is that the ZDBSP program in GZDoom may be outdated.

Okay, I had to look around a bit in DB2, but here goes:
In Game Configurations, find what game you're modding for and click Nodebuilders. It should be in there on how to set it up.
As for forcing builds on the spot, I didn't see where.

I don't believe this, as my experience with this issue has be quite the reverse. Try launching gzdoom with +gennodes 1, and then warp to your map.

@ PDF: I have ZDBSP set to build nodes in UDMF when saving the map. But it doesn't build them.

@ Edward: I tried -gennodes 1. Same exact problem. I also have a problem like this on another UDMF map of mine. These are the only two problems of their kind that I've encountered, but they're always there when I play my maps. Nobody who I've sent my maps to has encountered them, as I said before. :|

Hmmm... I've just noticed that DooMBuilder 2 has no quick nodebuild options...

I have the latest GZDooM... at least I think...

UDMF works fine for me, though, even with complex and funky architecture...

My nodebuilder is set at:

Configuration for saving map: ZDBSP-Normal

Configuration for testing: ZDBSP-Fast (no reject)

Maybe your configurations aren't set up right. I don't really know... I just put that there for reference...
I hope it helps you out, though. :|

Mind uploading the map then? Not much can be done without an example.

At the very least you might have uncovered a bug.

Unfortunately, that would require you to upload the sample to report a bug with.
