Man... Mickey$oft is sure proud of their MSGS SW Synth, aren't they LOL?!

Anyhow, I'd suggest posting a message in the link that I posted above. The author has made several updates to the driver just in the past few days to address some of the issues with it, and he might be able to help ya out :)

Turns out I'm wrong about not having any issues with BASSMIDI not being set as the default MIDI device - the only reason the setting "stuck" was that my MIDI player, MegaMID, had an option to set the MIDI output device. Trying to figure out how to fix the problem so I might play Jumpman Zero in glorious OPL3-soundfont glory.

Folks,

The author has made yet another update earlier today:

http://mudlord.emuxhaven.net/stuff/bassmididrv.exe
http://mudlord.emuxhaven.net/stuff/bass ... ources.rar

Dunno about other folks, but it fixed my problem of having to change the MIDI playback device from within the Windows Sound and Audio Properties control panel applet (as previously, when I changed it using the BASSMIDI driver configuration utility, it wouldn't actually change it in Windows).

Anyhow, that new update fixed my problem. As usual, if ya download the new version, make sure that you actually uninstall the old one first, before installing the newer version.

I'll test it with Windows 7 later today - that may fix the problem I've been having. Vista Midi Picker currently doesn't see BASSMIDI as a device; the only two options available to me are the Microsoft GS and "(unknown device)" which just defaults to Microsoft GS anyway. But like I said, I'll test the new version and report back.

A great thing with this is that if you set it as the default player, then it's what is used by SLADE for MIDI playback. I was already quite happy with what I could get from ZDoom itself (what with TiMidity++, FluidSynth and the other options), but it annoyed me to have the subpar MS synth in SLADE.

Still not quite working for me. BASSMIDI does show up as a supported device in MegaMID, but I can't get the setting to stick to where I can use it to hear the music in Jumpman Zero with my intended soundfont - it just keeps reverting back to MS Synth. I've tried Vista Midi Picker, and attempting to set it to "(unknown device)" doesn't seem to affect it. I uninstalled and reinstalled BASSMIDI as of today, with no effects either.

Damn. :(
... making the license fishy at best...
If you ever care to look, I changed the license to be BASS compatible.
Don't bother me again.

I'm having a different problem than other Win7 users. The BASSMIDI driver fails to show up in any of the device changer lists at all, so I can't select it.

I used to run a Timidty+ plus MidiYoke setup, but I've uninstalled both first. Perhaps some conflict occured?

Thanks in advance.

AFAIK simply fixes for folks having problems with getting the driver to "stick" within WinDoZe (when setting the drivers as the active MIDI output device).

Also, he changed the packing scheme of the installer and included files so's the various anti-virus programs wouldn't complain.

Just tried this driver, it doesn't seem to be working, no matter what I do.
