NOTE FROM MANAGEMENT: You will need to register a [free] account on DRD Team File Sharing (not the same as your DRD Team forum account!) before you can upload any files at all, otherwise the site will give you an error that your file is too large.

For those of you sick of seeing all those free hosts delete your old files, etc, don't like countdowns, captchas, and spam advertisements telling you to register and pay for every single free file host you come across, an alternative has recently been launched.

DRD Team now allows the Doom community to share their files with others - free of charge! You can directly link the files on that site to the forum, and the site should be very intuitive and easy to use.

To access it, use http://files.drdteam.org/

And I mean using that service for ANY thing that could matter me, such as sharing big files with RL friends who have nothing to do with Doom, just because I find this service convenient and nag-free. This doesn't mean that I'm gonna do this right away, I have another large-space file-sharing device in the favourites I'm using for my work/study needs.

Nice one. Someone did this a while back offering gigs of bandwidth and space, but he was completely ignored for some reason

I mostly only upload crap for temporary reasons but this could be a good replacement for filefront... Sticky?

Well someone had to do it! Heh, my only concern is that the site will get too much traffic and will have to discontinue the service

These two go hand in hand - so I'll answer both at the same time.

Because of the concern that it would get "too popular", yes, it has to be Doom/engine related. Because if you start uploading just any old file, it will get popular outside of the community, and this poses a serious problem.
To clarify:
Heretic? Yes.
Hexen? Yes.
Strife? Yes.
Chex/related? Yes.
Eternity/other engines? Yes.
Quake? No.
Duke? No.
Shadow Warrior: No.
Unreal: No.
etc: No.

However, if someone wants to pay for a bigger VPS (or even give me money to move to Dedicated), we could definitely expand it.

In the future, I'm considering opening the option for premium accounts, to pay for DRD Team's hosting costs, and this might also open up that possibility as well. If I do that, it will still be nag-free don't worry, but premium folks will get uncapped bandwidth and much more space, plus bigger per-file allowances.

I've been using the service since it came back up and it's great. The only feature it's missing is the ability to browse all available files. Right now you can only search existing files, but you have no way to view them if you aren't looking for anything in particular.
