Yeah, this has been going on for way too long now.
Either it's coming back up, or as I fear, not.

Before it will come back, it will be forever O_o.
But hey, it's a few GBs. I mean, I really think they couldn't put it up by now... for a few months... right?

At this point, no, it's not coming back up. "A few GB's" is a few GB's too many for my connection speed and upload right now, sorry. I'm also not going to put that much effort into restoring a part of the site that causes more administration overhead (and headache) than it does benefit. Feel free to unsticky this.

So, in other words, does this mean that it is officially "dead" for good, or is there a chance that in the future the service might come back up?

That's unfortunate. Is there any way to maybe store the files on physical media and send them to someone who can upload them?

Yes, I hope the files are still on some physical hard disk so that maybe someone else can carry off where this left off.

Any plans to relaunch the service at all? Even if everyone has to reupload their files, it's still better than none at all.

Never say never. That's not meant to get your "hopes" up per se, but at this point the service hasn't been utterly destroyed to the point where its only hope of recovery is the utter depths of oblivion. Things take time.

Sure. If there's some way to get the files out into the world again, definitely it'd be relaunched. But at this point, that's not something to hold your breath for.

That being said, when I get money again, I'll put it on some DVD's if someone wants to upload it somewhere.

It could simply be possible to throttle the upload speed to merely 5KB/s and drag the upload for nearly a month (I've used 10GB's to calculate, which equals ~ 23 days). Though, I can also understand how this seems to be a stretch also. I would not mind if the users (speaking for myself) would have to re-upload our data, atleast I understand the situation and why it would happened.

Is there any current road blocks that is preventing this service from coming back alive?

Can you elaborate? I have no clue as to what you're suggesting other than stating other services....

I never knew you could just magically teleport data to those!
