Text screens have tiled backgrounds

Text screens have tiled backgrounds

Zdoom E4's ending looks like this on 1680x1050, it's going to be even more hideous in higher resolutions:

Eternity Engine, 3DGE, Doom Retro scale the background flat.
Zdoom and prboom-plus, Crispy Doom tile it.

It's just weird. Why should resolution affect the background image of a text screen?

Wasn't tiling the default in Doom?

All ports tile them.But some also scale them.

Oh that explains it. That's why it's getting tiled so much in Zdoom and the skulls look like little toys. But if it wasn't tiled it would look gruesome. Is there some cvar I can change to adjust it to something inbetween?

I'm talking about another flat, used in another ep's ending. That one looks worse than the pebbles.
