Before posting your Resource, please make sure you can answer YES to any of the following questions:
  • Is the resource ENTIRELY my own work?
  • If no to the previous one, do I have permission from the original author?
  • If no to the previous one, did I put a reasonable amount of work into the resource myself, such that the changes are noticeably different from the source that I could take credit for them?
If you answered no to all three, maybe you should consider taking your stuff somewhere other than the Resources forum.

Consult the Resource/Request Posting Guidelines for more information.

Please don't put requests here! They have their own forum --> here. Thank you!

Resource Tutorials Listing

Post by tsukiyomaru0 »

Considering the possibilities, I think we should make a pinned listing of tutorials for creating various resources (Sound Effects, Music, Sprites, Backgrounds, Palette, Voxels, etc). However, this should be a community effort, not mine alone. As to promote the entire "Learn to create by yourself" situation prior to one creating a request. I only know, however, one site for resource tutorials:
Spriters' Resource
Gun Labs
Weapon Tutorial
Monster Tutorial
NMN Weapon tutorial
Phobus' spriting for amateurs tutorial
Doom Nexus
Simple Doomy Explosion
Transparent Door

I think we should give priority to Voxel, Animating 3D objects, designing weapons, creating rotations first.

GunLabs is a website I've been maintaining for tutorials relating to coding. Not strictly what you're looking for, but it may still help someone.

I have noticed you kind of have a tutorial for weapon design. Perhaps you could improve that one? Or have you done so?

Well, as I mentioned, let's try to use this thread for listing of tutorials on resources, yeah.

"Slimpe Doomy Explosions" :D

BTW, that spriting tutorial I've made is actually wrong on important areas. Most importantly, please use a 320x200 base for the vanishing point instead of the 320x240 I did there. Otherwise your weapons are gonna be really stretched and would look like it's aiming up when you load the sprites in. I didn't realize doom's base screen size was 320x200 at the time I made it.

Sorry for the bump (first one mind you) but I think this tutorial on how to convert a vanilla map to UDMF format will be of vital use to people http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f= ... 61#p656661 Also, would it be possible to have this thread stickied, please?

It can not be ignored, it's the only Doom specific texture making tutorial I've ever found :)
