ZDOOM and Hexen 64 Music
I have here all 37 Hexen songs from nintendo 64.
http://acidglow.lithfaq.com/
Just go Hexen mods. then click on Hexen music pack.
Its been packed up in a zip folder to work with Doomsday engine. Does anyone know how to use custom music for ZDOOM? So that each map plays a particular song.

This is what I did:
You unpack what you downloaded, and it has a bunch of JDoom directory stuff, at the bottom of that, there's a .zip.
Unpack that. There's more directories and at the bottom of those are a bunch of .OGG files.
Now, start up Slade 3 (it's what I use, something else might work if you use the equivalent commands.)
On the Slade 3 menu, File > New > Wad Archive
Then, Entry > New from File
In the file selection box, go to where you unpacked the .OGG files. Select all of them at once and press the "Open" button.
File > Save as. Save it in whatever location and name is handy to you.
Now you've got a .wad of the music. Load up Hexen in ZDoom together with the new music .wad and you should hear the replacement music.
The same method should work just as well for the Sycraft Doomsday music packs.
If you're using something other than a Doomsday music pack (for instance if you're ripping the tracks from the Hexen 95 CD to put into a ZDoom-playable form) you'll have to make the additional step of making sure each track is given the same name as the MUS lump it's replacing. That's already done for you in the Doomsday packs.

Do these sound different than the Hexen PC CD music? Just want to know before I try downloading them.

Yes, everything was remixed for the N64 version for one reason or another. Some tracks differ more from the PC versions than others, though.NeuralStunner wrote:Do these sound different than the Hexen PC CD music? Just want to know before I try downloading them.

Well, here are some examples of what they sound like.
Seven Portals:
Guardian of Fire:
Sacred Grove (this one sounds almost completely different):

Yeah, they sound nice in their own right, but too different from the MIDI versions. So they won't work so well as a HQ replacement. Thanks for that though.

Ah, if you just want something that's a higher-quality rendition of the MIDI versions, you might want to check this out if you haven't already:

Oh cool, I'll give those a listen, too.
Edit: Wow.

Re: ZDOOM and Hexen 64 Music
Hexen's music will always have a special place in my heart.
Re: ZDOOM and Hexen 64 Music
Here's an incomplete version. If I get around to timing the USFs I'll finish it. Here's the PSX and Saturn music.
Re: ZDOOM and Hexen 64 Music
Should this be moved to resources?

Good idea.

Re: ZDOOM and Hexen 64 Music
Hmm, I tried something different.
I used a WAD editor... called XWE, I simply started it and opened Hexen.wad , and clicked on 'load' and selected all 37 hexen songs (the ogg files), and for some reason the game loads the new songs.
Problem is, if I try to start the game without ZDOOM, it won't load passed that spinal column loading screen (where as it worked before). Its just stuck. But aslong as you use ZDOOM the game will work. So if anyone tries this method make sure to keep a copy of the Hexen.wad just in case.

Re: ZDOOM and Hexen 64 Music
I really hope nobody does try that method.
ZDoom is highly moddable without editing your IWads.
Put the music into a folder called Music. Then put that folder into a zip file. Rename the zip file "Hexen64 Music.pk3" and load it up in ZDoom with -File.
