Could you make an explosion animation from the last frame of the Cacodemon-style Pain Elemental death? It would be interesting to make it die like a Cacodemon, then explode, releasing Lost Souls, after a random duration.

Hey, David G, since you seem to be the expert in this field, is there any chance you could do an "arm and head (or side) blown off by shotgun," "vaporized (like duke64 plasma cannon or strife disruptor effect)" or "hit by multiple large rounds" animation for the marine or former humans? I haven't seen any similar sprites.

Your forgot to rotate the buttom half of the minigun for the 2 additional frames. The barrels looks bent.

I can handle that. I've been able to do the bottom half of perkristian's chaingun. However, it could use a little perspective fixes and touching up IMO.

Hey, I tried that and did a crappy job. Mind if I use these? :)

ItsNatureToDie wrote:Some new polished up sprites. Started on the unmaker a little while back and finished it recently. As for the polished sprites, they are no longer going to be worked on for i am happy with how they come out.

EDIT the scientist among them however is just a pilot.

I always thought it was odd that the Unmaker had a handle but doomguy was never holding it... I think I made some sprites with him holding the angled one. I should try to find that again.

I always thought of it as a handle like you'd find on an assault rifle - designed for carrying when not in combat. The Unmaker always struck me as some sort of demonic glove-puppet, cemented by the way the Unmaker Zombie is holding it.

Well yeah, that's the way I saw it too. Considering that's the way I made the sprite. Actually I think I might have done it that way because it was easier for me to make it that way, and I liked it so I stuck with it.

Someone should really put all these alt-deaths together in a wad with decorate :( It's a shame that these get abandoned...

Since you seem to like blood and guts, David, here's my suggestion. Battle damaged enemies. Barely standing zombies, bullet riddled cacos... you get what I'm saying.
Inflicting damage is one thing. Seeing it tear enemies to shreds a little bit at a time is a whole other world.

I approve of this idea. This would be outstanding to have.

Also, it'd be nice if someone could point me to any wad(s) that uses any of the sprites in this thread. I'd really like to see them ingame.

Actually I've put them in a few wads already. Not all of them, but I might be able to do something like that if I get the spare time... I've been a little busy as of late but it is entirely doable.
