Well, if the animation option is available, modders could set up the weapon to either look "infinite" like that, or have it run down. I personally would like if the animation frames are at least available for re-use.

@Neccronixis I think those are supposed to be the firing tubes of the micro missile pod, and the micro missiles are loaded inside them.

Here's what I'm working on at the moment:
- Shotgun: default no upgrade, triple shot and explosive shot
- Heavy Assault Rifle (FINISHED): default no upgrade, scope, micro missiles.
- Super shotgun will stay as it is for the time being
- Rocket launcher: default no upgrade, detonation, lock on burst
- Plasma Rifle: default no upgrade stun bomb, heat burst
- Gauss Cannon: default no upgrade ranged shot, charged shot
- Chaingun (WIP): default no upgrade, mini turret
- Chainsaw: sprites will be redone so that they match more with that of the chainsaw in new DOOM
- Other miscellaneous sprite changes and touch-ups
Excuse the disjointed animation, but I've got a ton of layers in Photoshop that I don't want to mess around with (If it doesn't look right in the browser then open it in another window or save it).

Frame 5 on the GIF shows the arm slightly higher than the heavy assault rifle when attaching the scope but you probably already caught that

I think I saw a stray white pixel somewhere in Doomguy's hand, otherwise it's slick.
