Ripping from CoD: Black Ops (Xbox 360)

Post by SergeantGnarKill »

I am working on a mod called CoD: Doom Ops, and for this mod, I've been ripping screenshots from CoD Black Ops on Xbox 360.

Basically, what I do is create a private multiplayer match by myself. You have to go into match options and select enable recording, and custom classes. From here you can create the custom classes, and when making a private match, all weapons/perks/etc. are unlocked, so you can make your classes whatever you want to rip. Then, once you have your classes all set up, you start the match. While in the match, use the weapon and go through all the motions you want to rip (ie. Select, Deselect, Fire, Reload, etc.) Then quit the match.

Back out to the multiplayer menu, and enter theatre mode. Select the match you just played from My Recent Matches, and select it for playback. Once you have it up, record the selections you want at a slow speed (I use 0.1x), and save your selections in your file share.

Now, back out and go to your file share and select your new film for playback. Now play it frame by frame (tapping A) and rip each screenshot (holding B). You can only save 6 at a time, so it's best to do this process with your laptop close by.

Now, you go to callofduty.com (registering is really easy) and go to the theater tab.

Your screenshots will be up so select the download button, and it will bring up a larger version of the screenshot.

Save the picture so you can edit it.

Then just rip the background using your photo editing program.

Once you get to this point just save it as a png file, and you can use it. If you are helping with my Doom Ops project, just put the screenshots in a WAD like this with the backgrounds ripped but without resizing them or moving them. I will fix it up from there. The pics should all be 2560x1440. Thanks!

This is asking for trouble. Why on Earth do they have to be so large?

A large raw rip size allows for antialiased low-res sprites, if you decide to downscale them or use them in vanilla Doom.

320x200 Doom palette:

That looks surprisingly good. The edges need some editing, but if downscaling is done with Image/Graphicsmagick, they might fix that with the -threshold switch.

I'm talking more about the massive amount of blank space in the sprite. You don't need that. It will use up more than 4 times as much memory per sprite.

I only use the extra space for alignment.

You still shouldn't do that. Most WAD editors can show borders of a 320x200 area.

Makes your wad ridiculously huge to overly large images.

Yes, not seeing the extra space in the sprite in-game doesn't mean that the engine doesn't render it.

The only thing that is irritating is getting rid of the backround. How fast do you do it?

the fast way

use cheats

use noclip, go to the outside of the map i guess is a black background ... i tried this on moden warfare 2 and works, i choose the level "museum" is the best map, becuase the museum have lot of weapons...but the problem is how delete the hud, i cant.

read this;

in my case for modern warfare 2, go to activision foldier, later go to modern warfare 2 and next go to players foldier, exist a file called config, add this lines;

seta thereisacow "1337"
bind o "god"
bind p "noclip"

for example the button "o" activate god mode and "p" noclip, now open the modern warfare 2 game and go to the level museum, later you can choose any weapon there, later press the button "p" noclip on, go to the outside of the museum you can see a black background...take photos from there.... i guess this for black ops could be the same, but on your case is for xbox 360.... the only thing necesary for edit your image is only change the black background for another color, example cian....exist some program can do that on seconds, lot of images and lot of actions, few time, try with photoshop or able batch converter

Private hardcore match. You can set up whatever weapons you want in the class setup mode.

Does this work for PS3 too? I have some recorded matches in my gameshare. Can I access them via this website?
