I don't get stuck, but since I use the textured automap, I have GL nodes. Maybe it changes something?

It actually happens with revisions from r3965 onwards because of the Khorus map08 fix and the broken map checksum calculation. So I guess he simply listed a wrong version (r3964) in the topic.

I got stuck on my first attempt (and every successive attempt) until I updated to the version with fixed checksumming, so I can confirm that that was the problem.
