Couple of simple "mutators"

Post by HorrorMovieRei »

Just some simple mutators.

SnailBullet: Don't you just hate hitscan enemies? Then this mutator is for you. It makes hitscan enemies shoot slow tracers instead of the unavoidable hitscan attacks.

SnailBullet MKII: Same as above, but the shots are more Accurate

Lost-Soul Possession: Gives Lost Souls the ability to "possess" dead enemies, re-animating them, but making the lost soul disapear.

Archvile Summoner: Archviles can't heal or attack, but they will spam imps and pinkies.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/3mldj ... Archie.wad
___________________________________
Contra-like: Makes you die in one hit, but gives you a damage buff (x2 or x4 damage). Got the idea for this when me and a couple of friends fucked with the damage factor in a survival game a long time ago. It was hard as nails, but surprisingly fun(In multiplayer anyway).
Contra-like with x2 damage buff = http://www.mediafire.com/download/241bj ... Damage.wad
Contra-like with x4 damage buff = http://www.mediafire.com/download/p7y3h ... Damage.wad
NOTE: Contra-like should work with every mod, but it doesn't work so good with Brutal Doom. Make sure you load Contra-like BEFORE Brutal Doom, or else it'll just lock you in third person view and make you nigh invulnerable (Yeah, go figure...). But even when you load it right it seems you lose 50 hp at random some times.
___________________________________
Live free, or Doom hard: Similar to Contra-like, but enemies attacks are just buffed instead of instakills.
Doom Hard x2 = http://www.mediafire.com/download/lck9p ... Damage.wad
Doom Hard x4 = http://www.mediafire.com/download/3h91k ... Damage.wad

Crossfire: Projectiles can collide with each other.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/8237j ... ssFire.wad
Vertical Spread: Gives hitscan weapons a vertical spread.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/r5w10 ... Spread.wad
Dog Sphere: Replaces the God Sphere with the superior Dog Sphere.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/t7gwe ... ogMode.wad

That's it for now, I may make more in the future if I have any good ideas for more mutators. Feel free to modify these to your heart's contents if you want them to work with a mod you like. No need to ask for permission, and no need to credit me.

All of the mutators are pretty great, nice job. Though the snailbullet mutator makes some of the enemies a little too inaccurate
Spoiler: heres a video of what im talking about
Also, chaingun zombies with the snailbullet mutator seem to have a really wide weapon spread, as their bullets seem to hit the walls way too often in most corridors.

I think a slight homing effect on the projectiles along with a smaller weapon spread might work.

Rather than having the lost souls goto death, make them a_fade. I think the contra mode would be better if it was x2/x4 damage to you and enemies, so health pickups actually matter, as do enemy damage. The hitscanners should just shoot straight, without a random angle.

Do you think you could make it so the Anti-Agitation mutator makes it so the Revenant's Rockets ALWAYS home? I find that their homing is a bit weak considering they won't always do it.

My favorite of the mutators would have to be the Lost Soul corpse reanimation. That's something I always felt would happen in Doom, and now I can finally see it in action. Kudos to you, my friend.

I like the idea of that one the best, too. Maybe it could simultaneously replace Archviles with Pain Elementals, since they'd serve the purpose of resurrecting monsters now?

Except viles are smaller so any P ele would be stuck in the wall if spawned such as.

Unless you made a special, smaller, faster version to replace him!

I did something similar but instead of fully resurrecting the monster, it instead summons the "soul" of the monster. It looks like a ghost and acts like the monster but only has 10% the health and is slower. That way it isn't replacing any monsters :P

Plus, who doesn't like the Archvile? Right?

HorrorMovieGuy, I went and quickly cooked up a Hideous Destructor version of the Lost Soul revive mutator you made. You can see it in my usual HD addon thread.

I tried doing that, but they didn't fade out, maybe because they use the "transsouls" render style. I didn't want to change it, so I just made them jump to their death states

Can do.

I actually gave them the same horizontal spread they use for their usual hitscan attacks, although their innacuracy is more evitent now because they're projectiles. I'm gonna make them spread less though, to make up for their limited speed.

Nice!

http://www.moddb.com/games/doom/addons/ ... tracers-v2

Theres an alternate tracer version of the Snailbullets. Also provided vanilla, medium and fast speed versions of both original and new tracer.

edit- Also included Accurate versions of both. Not superaccurate, just 50-60% more accurate than vanilla.

edit2- I've provided Snailbullet compatibility for Faspons mod and Dark Doom Creatures. Which I will post in the respective threads:
