BDJv20 - Classic Experience

Post by Uninstall »

Image

Greetings Space-Marine,

here you can find a Brutal Doom version that tries to get close to Vanilla. As a base I used BDJv20s version of Doom. All hail goes to him. And of course to Sergeant_Mark_IV for BDv20. Here you can find the original version of BDJv20: http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=47229

Changes compared to BDJv20:

Weapons:
Pistol
- Removed Recoil
- Removed Screen Shake effect when firing weapon
- Changed weapon sound

Rifle
- Removed Recoil
- Removed Screen Shake effect when firing weapon
- Removed Weapon sway while ADS
- You are now able to fire in full-auto when ADS
- Changed weapon sound

Shotgun
- Removed Recoil
- Removed Screen Shake effect when firing weapon
- Removed Weapon sway while ADS
- Removed smoke
- Tweaked accuracy. Shotgun fires now slightly more accurate
- Added ReFire to weapon. This means you can keep the mouse trigger pressed and the shotgun will not stop shooting
- Changed weapon sound
- Increased ammo capacity to 15

Super-Shotgun
- Removed Recoil
- Removed Screen Shake effect when firing weapon
- Changed BDJv20 Sprites with Doom64 sprites of the SSG
- Changed weapon sound (both, double barrel and single barrel)
- Slightly increased firing speed
- Removed smoke when firing weapon
- Reduced flash when firing weapon

Minigun
- Removed Recoil
- Removed Screen Shake effect when firing weapon
- Changed weapon sound
- Removed smoke when firing weapon
- Reduced flash when firing weapon

RocketLauncher
- Removed Recoil
- Removed Screen Shake effect when firing weapon
- Removed Screen Shake when Rockets hit target
- Removed smoke on target (I want to see the foe exploding)

Plasma Gun
- Removed Recoil
- Removed Screen Shake effect when firing weapon
- Removed smoke
- Removed weapon overheating
- Removed the firing behaviour. Not the Plasma Gun shoots always with the same speed

BFG
- Removed Recoil
- Removed Screen Shake effect when firing weapon

Extra Weapons
No changes!

Monster
- All monsters have their movement speed reduced. I tried to come close to Vanilla speed but this is very
hard to achieve. Anyway, I am quite happy with the result.

- Removed most special attacks. Imps will still jump towards the player but much less frequent. Baron of Hell
still has the multiple shot attack.

- Altered monster health

Other changes
- changed title picture with HD picture of DOOM 2 / artwork of unknownn Doom artist
- Removed the high amount of difficulty levels. Now you got only five difficulty levels:
. Hard = Damage normal / Enemy Spawn Nightmare
. Ultra Violence = Damage +50% / Enemy Spawn Nightmare
. Brutal Doom = Damage +70% / Enemy Spawn Nightmare
. Nightmare = Damage +100% / Enemy Spawn Nightmare
. Ecclesiarchy Mode = Damage +300% / Enemy Spawn Hard / Monster health -60% / Doomguy followers health -60%
- Changed Space Marine voices into Warhammer 40.000 Space Marine voices (based on the upload from Rebot http://www.moddb.com/mods/brutal-doom/a ... ine-voices)
- Edited quit messages into more Warhammer friendly messages

Bugs:
When Revenants attack each other in anger, they will get no damage from melee attacks.

Download v1.2. (dated 2015-07-06):

This sounds a lot what I do for my personal version, but you edited out stuff I didn't know what to do. Nice work.

Got something to report, the super shotguns alt-fire in the beautiful doom version is stronger then primary which is really weird. Like enemies explode with alt-fire, which is just one shell but primary makes them suffer normal deaths. . . but that's 2 shells.

It's actually kind of funny in a ridiculous way but you might want to fix that, try it yourself, it is like using a bullet-based rocket launcher.

also I thank you for changing the chaingun sprite in (brutal) beautiful doom, because I never like that it was just the original elongated. However, it might just be my shitty laptop, but the things animation doesn't really play properly fully revved.

Cool. Thanks for sharing. I can now play with my controller again. :)

Just a question though. why did you decide to take the reloading function off the standard weapons but not the BD added ones? Why not all of them?

Really cool version of Brutal Doom, taking out the reloading part make Brutal Doom a bit easier.
In my opinion, the assault rifle should be replaced with the pistol because without the ammo capacity per magazines, the assault rifle is kinda like the chaingun, I know they have different fire rates and stuff but essentially, they're kind of the same. And since it's a classic experience, the beloved pistol should be in there :D . But again all these are just my opinions.
And is it me or the secondary fire of the plasma gun doesn't seem to cost any ammo?

Let me explain. These are the stats if you fire two barrels at once: 11,7,20,6. (The 11 and 7 are the angle spread horizontal and vertical, 20 is the number of bullets, 6 is the damage)
These are the stats if you use alternative fire: 11,7,10,6.
You see the difference?

Confirmed. I tried to get rid of it but could not figure out what the problem is? Just dont use it... :?

Complainment accepted. Took out the shaking and reloading feature of the MP40 and Railgun. The GrenadeLauncher stays as it is.

Download link above edited. Have fun with the new version :D

Quick Update:

- Increased HP of Cacodemon, Baron of Hell and Hell Knight

Update link above edited.

Wouldn't this just make it regular doom with a little more gore added? Seems a bit pointless to go to all this trouble when you just wind up having a vanilla experience.

BD's actually pretty fun when it's closer to vanilla, though. The effects and such remain the same but you don't have to deal with everything being super fast and hard hitting.

Why dont you just play another gore mod that plays just like vanilla then?

Let me reiterate, I get headshots with alt-fire when I'm not even trying for them.
