Reinchard's wip textures demo available

Post by Reinchard2 »

I decide to upload first demo of my textures. This file contain all textures and flats for E1M1 Hangar and few textures from other E1 levels. There are some textures that I don't show on this forum and there is some placeholders and unfinished ones (I don't have much time for now, so I decide to share this in that form). Play with it and give me some constructive criticism.

E1M1 textures pack demo:
http://www.filedropper.com/rtextures

Just unzip the textures and flats folders to your JDoom or GZDoom directory.

Good luck getting this through. :p

The second screenshot is weird though, the texture is way too yellow.

That's an older version of the texture. The final version was the first one posted.

What's interesting about the TEKWALL one is that it gives a reasonable glimpse into what might have been in mind (ie what TEKWALL4 is actually meant to be) when the original texture was being made all those years ago.

I made a first touch on Stargr2. It seems to me that I need to broaden the slot between panels. Of course this is work version without decals and without proper shading. I think that the star textures are made from some kind of synthetic material, more like plastic, but harder, less like metal. Look at the bullets holes on original - they don't have any signs of smoke around them. On the other hand there are traces of fire in other places. I do not know what think about that.

I'm getting such a Rebel Moon Rising vibe out of the new STARGR*.

Yes, I've always thought that they would be a similar material to this stuff lining some of the passages in Star Wars space ships such as the Millenium Falcon and I think that ties in pretty well with your description.

Must have been a massive eyeballing session getting all of that detail into the highres TEKWALL... o_O

Even the "fixed" version doesn't get the colour tint quite right yet. Otherwise, good job!

New version stargr2, still far from ideal ... This smoke is terrible.

The shadows on the top thingies are way too intense.

You should also avoid the perception of depth. I noticed that all the textures seem to be 3D models. Do take note that this is DooM. The textures can go up multiple floors, and would look weird looking at a wall texture that has a downward angle.

Ok, another try . Maybe I use this version as a base for further work.

Yeah that looks much better! It should blend more naturally with the existing texture set.
