UAAF: Hell Strikes, is my recreation of Doom's Alpha maps and concept, helped with the Doom Bible details.
I'm going to use the alpha maps as some base for this mod, yo ucan see the alpha maps here:http://toastytech.com/dooma/alpha4.html

This is like some new "KDiZD" style mod, but im going to work harder on the gameplay and stories :)

So, i edited this first post, there are map02 and map03 screenies in this page if you like to see.

Changes today August 12, 2012:

[+]Alpha bobbing of the weapons
[+]2 weapons added: Assault Rifle, replacing pistol, nad the Bayonnet, replacing fist
[+]Map01 re-done, because the map2 and map3 are too high detailed in comparison of the first map, i will post screenshots soon
[+]Added the 3 other marines that makes you company, with new sprites
[+]Added the TITLEMAP, i will use it as a trailer
[-]Removed First map's exterior area.



That's it for now, i'll hope you keep posting your opinions, and, remember, map02 and map03 screenshots are below on this page!

Ugh, I must be honest for a second to say I REALLY dislike rooms structured like this, with a hole in the center of the ground. They're really irritating to navigate in, and often look weird.

In general, I'm going to advise that you put a little more effort into it, as the texturing and general shape is a little chaotic right now. At least you're not overdoing the floor detail, aside from the one pit room.

You should play the doom alphas, you will se that textures, are mostly white-grey or even sometimes like brown, im doing tigh as the doom alphas, so even i dont want to lose time re-editing the floor-walls textures, but i will do something that i know it should be great for these kind of textures :wink:

ok, now im on a different computer, 56kb internet, took me 10 minutes to acces the forum an answer (normally it took me less than 5 minutes) and i dont have time, but i will post more info (idk why) and screenshots of the second level. thanks for your opinion

BTW! the textures in this remake will be a litle weird, but there will be an explication why is that way, that is simple... i must work as the alpha doom, play the alpha levels, you will see weird texture mixes, obviously i dont like them, i removed a lot of them that dont look too good (like a starttan like texture or a hellish kind of wall or a orange one) so im not going to mix the textures as the alpha, but i going to make an alpha atmosphere.

I've never found DOORTRAK to be convincing in any role different from that of a door track. You should find something else to border these skylights.

Also, we won't get snagged up on the detail too much, right? That's one gripe I have with most detailed maps and prefer to play the oldschool ones (like your first post).

Whoa, when I saw that, I never knew it would be like Shadow warrior or something like that. That image almost reminds me of Chinatowns. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just watch for any Vegas lights.

That does have an urban vibe to it, doesn't it? Sorta like some of the cityscapes in Hard Reset... Doom in a cyberpunk city (rather than the blocky, very 20th-century American brick buildings in the canon game) would be surprisingly fitting yet rarely done.

It really gives off a KDiZD feel (Not that there's anything wrong with that), and some of those shots are really nice. Very promising work.

It is nice to "heard" (or better, read) that from you guys :) , i like when people post the opinions they have and criticism of any way.

It really looks with so much detail isn't it? but the really thing is, if you see close, you will notice that there is a simple architecture, just some slopes and sectors that give some base feel, and the detail, just what it needs, and i like to make Deimos base-like maps, base-hell mixes, so you will find some zones consumed by hell :P

That's the beauty of it. It isn't forced detail. It's just detail added in.

I dont speak english too good, and by that, don't understand too good english, so i didn't understood what do you mean with the first thing you said :P

And thank you, im working hard to this project because i really love it.

I'm trying to keep the original map feeling in a lot of zones-.

To me it looks like you're adding detail simply for the sake of adding detail (which was a big problem with KDIZD) instead of adding it to make things look more up to date. Either tone it down by a huge amount, or make the additional detail at least somewhat logical (look at Vaporware or SpaceDM9 for a good example of this). The texturing is pretty wacky as well.

The difference is that this is being done by someone with a sense of proportion and design.

By the way, is this at all compatible with weapon/monster mods? The whole "city" thought has me really wanting to try Hideous Destructor with this.
