It pretty much has to, since they were marines too. I think the different coloring has something to do with the rank or maybe just to distinguish monsters and players, but they are meant to be the same kind of armor.

hey , that looks really good,
It seems that you are much better at doing HD stuff than me.

Let me play a little bit with your armor and see what I'll got.
Best news is that FINALLY I GOT FINAL HEADS FOR SHOTGUN GUY , ZOMBIEMAN and IMP. by final I mean that they may need still to be tuned a bit
like we are doing now for shogunguy but I think they are decent enough to not look for another kind of look. So its almost done for these 3 guys.
Demon is pretty close right now, and CACODEMON frames are being added.

So it looks like I AM GONE GET IT DONE soon (HD project PHASE I for Doom 1)
So if anyone hesitated to help because it may never be done its time to start:)
If for expample someone feels like making HD LOST SOUL it would be great and fairly incoplicated. (easy to get free samples of skull with angles and kinda morph it into onto roginal sprite bumped to 4x.

Thanks for your comments, i really tried to make a good armor and as stay close to "doom canon" as possible, as well as your original sprites. I wouldn´t go as far as to say "you are much better at doing HD stuff..." after all, your sprites are really cool. Besides I've seen your Baron of Hell and it's awesome! Also, i think i'm pretty slow with GIMP (this is the first time i try it... hell, this is the first time i try to make something more besides editing photos in a graphics program).

This is good news indeed! I hope to see them soon.

Anyway, i couldn´t work the other frames for shotgun guy because of a lot of work (man, i really hate not resting my weekends...). Although I did manage to start the "initial phase" of the drawing (not much, btw). And yes, this project will be (hopefully) finished someday, and it will be awesome!

Yes, I know a good part of it will be obstructed by the arms and weapon, but this way i can get a much better hold on perspective and position....

The armor is looking stupidly good. Save templates of it to recolor later and use for the zombieman and doomguy. I think this armor is the best progress I have seen on this thread since the Baron of Hell's face.

The shoulder pads are too big. Otherwise, ludicrously excellent.

It'd be a shame if something was to happen to them..

But yeah, I think they should be more like the top armor thingy.

I really appreciate everyone's comments and criticism. The idea is to create something worth of doom. I know the "concepts" still have a lot of errors, and little things that can be improved, so every comment is appreciated.

Well, i thought that maybe (for this design) instead of "shoulder pads" i could try with some pauldrons. I thought they could fit in. I could make a test without them, just to compare...

Anyway, here is another test, same idea, different angle. I left the guy headless because i don't have the new head/face for him, so, for the time being, he is a headless shotgun guy. As always, I'd like to know what do you think?

i do like the shoulder pads. about the boots, i always tought they should look like sci-fi greaves. these suits are made for space marines after all, you're not going to last long on phobos surface with rangers.

Stain the boots with blood, and it will be love. Also, the angled guy's chest looks weird. Maybe too small, but for a starting slate, is really good.

Also, awesome armor there. But this thing I just HAD to do kinda reveals that his neck is way too small.
